Emily Joy Oomen is a multimedia writer. Born and raised near Dallas, Texas, she now lives in the Pacific Northwest. She has a B.A. in English with a minor in Visual and Media Arts from the University of Washington.
Her work has appeared in BBC, The Wall Street Journal, Vice, Buzzfeed, Entropy Mag, The Athens International Video Poetry Festival, Sundress Publications, and many other publications.
Her creative writing discusses mental health, love, and social commentary. Her journalism mostly touches upon the arts and mental health.
She is currently working on her first book of poetry and helps curate videos for Button Poetry. She previously worked as an intern for The Poetry Vlog and Borgen Magazine.
When she is not writing, she enjoys listening to audiobooks by comedians, swimming, and drinking coffee.
